Use Hirschmann BRS40-00089999-STCY99HHSESXX.X.XX as a compact managed connection point without losing service traceability

Hirschmann BRS40-00089999-STCY99HHSESXX.X.XX, part number 942170008, is the Hirschmann BRS40-8TX managed industrial Ethernet switch described in the manufacturer configuration record. Eight Gigabit RJ45 ports make this a compact managed option for a small cabinet or machine cell. Its value depends on a clear port schedule, controlled management path and a baseline that a service technician can reproduce.

Keep the complete code attached to the engineering record

Hirschmann BRS40-00089999-STCY99HHSESXX.X.XX is the complete configuration reference associated with catalog Type BRS40-8TX and part number 942170008. Keep those three identifiers together in the inquiry, quotation, inspection record and configuration archive. A shortened BRS40 family description can help a buyer find the product family, but it cannot establish the same hardware and software selection as the complete ordering code.

• Match every character against the offered label.
• Record the part number beside the installed location.
• Keep the approved software and configuration evidence with the same equipment record.

Give every copper port an intended role

The official entry for Hirschmann BRS40-00089999-STCY99HHSESXX.X.XX records 8 Ports in total: 8x 10/100/1000BASE TX / RJ45. Build the port schedule from actual endpoints rather than treating every connector as interchangeable capacity. Assign a device name, destination, expected rate, VLAN and service owner to each planned link. For a replacement, also record the present negotiated speed and duplex so commissioning can compare the new installation with a known baseline.

Because BRS40-8TX is an all-Gigabit BRS40 configuration, the local copper links support 10/100/1000BASE-TX. That capability does not prove that existing cables or peer devices will negotiate at 1 Gbit/s. Verify the installed channel and far-end capability, then preserve the accepted result under the full Hirschmann BRS40-00089999-STCY99HHSESXX.X.XX record.

Map traffic paths before assigning VLANs

A switch with 8 physical interfaces can collect traffic from many controllers, operator stations and monitoring devices. Before deploying Hirschmann BRS40-00089999-STCY99HHSESXX.X.XX, identify multicast sources, time-sensitive traffic, management traffic and any connection that carries several downstream devices. This makes VLAN, QoS, storm-protection and multicast settings responses to a documented need instead of isolated feature choices.

Review the traffic that converges on each upstream path and decide how congestion or a failed link should be observed. The BRS40 feature set provides management and diagnostic options, but the acceptance test still needs representative application communication. Save the results with part number 942170008, the final port map and the approved configuration.

Choose management paths before production connection

The management list for Hirschmann BRS40-00089999-STCY99HHSESXX.X.XX includes HTTPS, SSHv2, SNMP, LLDP and IPv6 management, with file-transfer and local service options in the manufacturer data. Choose only the methods permitted by the site, identify who owns administrative access and decide where configuration backups and logs will be retained before connecting the switch to production.

Name each saved configuration with the complete product code, location and date. After any authorized change, update both the file and the port schedule. This makes a later restore operation specific to Hirschmann BRS40-00089999-STCY99HHSESXX.X.XX, reducing the risk of applying a file from another BRS40 switch that appears similar but serves a different topology.

Create a fault-finding baseline during acceptance

Commissioning should create normal evidence for Hirschmann BRS40-00089999-STCY99HHSESXX.X.XX: port link state, negotiated rate, duplex, VLAN role, peer identity and any expected redundancy status. Syslog, SNMP traps, port mirroring and cable diagnostics can then be interpreted against a known baseline rather than used only after a fault has already changed several conditions.

When a communication problem occurs, preserve the evidence before changing configuration. Compare the affected link with the port schedule, inspect the cable or SFP path and review the far end. Keep findings tied to Hirschmann BRS40-00089999-STCY99HHSESXX.X.XX and part number 942170008; replacing the switch before isolating the path can obscure the real cause.

Information that belongs in the quotation request

Send Hirschmann BRS40-00089999-STCY99HHSESXX.X.XX, catalog Type BRS40-8TX, part number 942170008, quantity and delivery destination in the inquiry. State the required operating environment, management functions, security policy, timing role and redundancy design where they affect acceptance. List accessories separately so the supplier can identify the complete scope.

Ask the supplier to show the exact offered code and document revision for Hirschmann BRS40-00089999-STCY99HHSESXX.X.XX. For replacement work, attach the installed label and summarize any function that must be retained. A configuration-specific request tied to part number 942170008 is easier to compare than a generic search for a managed industrial Ethernet switch.
