A cabinet-first selection guide for Hirschmann BRS30-0804OOOO-TTCY99HHSESXX.X.XX with extended operating temperature

Selecting Hirschmann BRS30-0804OOOO-TTCY99HHSESXX.X.XX begins with two requirements that should not be mixed together: a four-slot optical uplink plan and operation across the listed -40-+70 °C range. Part number 942170017 identifies the exact EEC configuration; the transceivers and protected cabinet remain separate design decisions.

Read the EEC values together with housing and IP protection

Hirschmann BRS30-0804OOOO-TTCY99HHSESXX.X.XX is listed for an operating temperature of -40-+70 °C, with pc-abs housing, DIN rail mounting and IP30 protection. These values answer different questions. The temperature range concerns operation at the device location, while IP30 still requires a surrounding installation that provides the protection demanded by dust, moisture and access conditions.

Use the configuration-specific dimensions of 73 mm x 138 mm x 115 mm and weight of 570 g in the panel drawing. Leave additional space for the six-pin power/signaling terminal, RJ45 plugs and optical patch-cord bends where applicable. Review heat from neighboring equipment and the cabinet's own temperature rise rather than substituting the room temperature for the switch location. For the BRS30-8TX/4SFP-EEC environment review, retain this evidence with part number 942170017 and the complete ordering code.

Turn the SFP positions into a complete fiber bill of materials

The four SFP slots on Hirschmann BRS30-0804OOOO-TTCY99HHSESXX.X.XX do not define a universal connector, wavelength, fiber type or transmission distance. Each link needs a compatible module at both ends, an accepted operating rate and an optical budget that accounts for the installed path. List the required transceiver references and quantities separately from part number 942170017 so the quotation makes the optical supply scope visible.

Check the far-end equipment, patch-panel connectors and available fiber before choosing modules. Record each fitted module in the equipment schedule and retain that list with the switch configuration. During fault finding, SFP management can provide interface evidence, but physical inspection and link-budget review remain relevant when a fiber path is unstable or unavailable. For the BRS30-8TX/4SFP-EEC optical review, retain this evidence with part number 942170017 and the complete ordering code.

Document the ring or coupled topology before commissioning

The catalog for Hirschmann BRS30-0804OOOO-TTCY99HHSESXX.X.XX lists HIPER-Ring, MRP, RSTP, link backup, LACP and redundant network coupling among the redundancy-related functions. Select the method that matches the approved topology and the capabilities of participating devices; the presence of several functions is not a reason to enable overlapping mechanisms without a defined design.

Acceptance should include a controlled failure test for the chosen arrangement. Record normal forwarding paths, the expected change during a link interruption and the observed recovery. Save the accepted settings with the full product code so later maintenance can distinguish an intended redundancy event from an unexplained topology change. For the BRS30-8TX/4SFP-EEC redundancy review, retain this evidence with part number 942170017 and the complete ordering code.

Compare the old label, port map and software requirements

A replacement review for Hirschmann BRS30-0804OOOO-TTCY99HHSESXX.X.XX should begin with the installed label, current port map, fitted optical modules where present, supply arrangement and saved configuration. Compare those records with part number 942170017 and the official attributes for this exact code. Avoid treating a shared BOBCAT family name as proof of electrical, environmental or software equivalence.

If an alternative is proposed, list every difference that affects wiring, rail space, temperature range, PoE demand, interface speed, transceivers or required functions. The accepted comparison should become part of the maintenance record so the next repeat order does not have to reconstruct the decision from incomplete notes. For the BRS30-8TX/4SFP-EEC replacement review, retain this evidence with part number 942170017 and the complete ordering code.

Send a configuration-specific inquiry

Send the exact keyword Hirschmann BRS30-0804OOOO-TTCY99HHSESXX.X.XX, catalog Type BRS30-8TX/4SFP-EEC, part number 942170017, quantity and delivery destination. Include the required SFP module references, quantities and far-end connection details. State any mandatory management, security, timing or redundancy functions and identify required accessories separately.

Ask the supplier to identify the offered code and scope explicitly. For replacement work, attach a readable nameplate image and the key installed-system details. This creates a quotation that can be compared against the engineering requirement without reducing the request to a generic port count. For the BRS30-8TX/4SFP-EEC inquiry review, retain this evidence with part number 942170017 and the complete ordering code.
