Plan advanced access control and four optical paths around Hirschmann BRS30-0804OOOO-STCY99HHSEAXX.X.XX

Hirschmann BRS30-0804OOOO-STCY99HHSEAXX.X.XX is the BRS30-8TX/4SFP-2A fanless DIN rail switch identified by part number 942170108. Its eight Fast Ethernet copper ports support local equipment, while four 100/1000 Mbit/s SFP positions provide configurable optical paths. The 2A feature list makes security, diagnostics and topology planning central to an accurate inquiry.

Start with the eight local ports and four uplink positions

The physical layout of Hirschmann BRS30-0804OOOO-STCY99HHSEAXX.X.XX combines eight 10/100BASE-TX RJ45 interfaces with four 100/1000 Mbit/s SFP slots arranged as two uplink groups. That makes the switch useful when local equipment is copper-connected but the surrounding industrial network uses optical paths. It does not turn the eight local RJ45 ports into Gigabit interfaces; the higher-rate capability in this configuration belongs to the SFP group.

Prepare a port schedule before installation. Identify every local endpoint, the destination of each uplink, the expected traffic and any link reserved for redundancy. This exposes capacity assumptions early and gives commissioning personnel a clear basis for labeling cables, checking negotiated rates and comparing actual status with the approved design. What the additional 2A function set changes in the review

The official feature list for BRS30-8TX/4SFP-2A adds controls and visibility beyond the base configuration, including DHCP snooping, Dynamic ARP Inspection, IP Source Guard, MAC authentication bypass, TACACS+, LDAP, MACSec support, RSPAN and SFLOW. These are available functions, not proof that a delivered switch already carries the site's policy. The project should identify which functions are mandatory and which connected systems supply authentication, addressing or monitoring services. For the BRS30-8TX/4SFP-2A advanced review, retain this evidence with part number 942170108 and the complete ordering code.

Introduce controls in a recoverable order. Establish authorized management access, preserve a known configuration and document infrastructure-facing ports before enabling address-validation or access policies. For monitoring, define where logs and sampled-flow data will be retained. A feature only improves operations when its configuration, peer dependencies and expected evidence are understood by the people maintaining the network. For the BRS30-8TX/4SFP-2A advanced review, retain this evidence with part number 942170108 and the complete ordering code.

Specify four usable optical links, not four empty slots

The four SFP slots on Hirschmann BRS30-0804OOOO-STCY99HHSEAXX.X.XX do not define a universal connector, wavelength, fiber type or transmission distance. Each link needs a compatible module at both ends, an accepted operating rate and an optical budget that accounts for the installed path. List the required transceiver references and quantities separately from part number 942170108 so the quotation makes the optical supply scope visible.

Check the far-end equipment, patch-panel connectors and available fiber before choosing modules. Record each fitted module in the equipment schedule and retain that list with the switch configuration. During fault finding, SFP management can provide interface evidence, but physical inspection and link-budget review remain relevant when a fiber path is unstable or unavailable. For the BRS30-8TX/4SFP-2A optical review, retain this evidence with part number 942170108 and the complete ordering code.

Build a fault-finding path from port evidence

Diagnostic functions documented for Hirschmann BRS30-0804OOOO-STCY99HHSEAXX.X.XX include copper cable testing, link speed and duplex monitoring, duplex-mismatch detection, link-flap detection, port mirroring, RMON, Syslog, TCPDump and device status indications. SFP management adds interface evidence for the optical positions. Start with the affected physical port and compare it with the commissioned baseline before making broad configuration changes.

A useful service record links an alarm or event to the port destination, recent changes and expected application traffic. Preserve the configuration, port map and normal link observations. When escalation is required, provide timestamps and the evidence already collected; this is more actionable than reporting only that communication was lost. For the BRS30-8TX/4SFP-2A diagnostics review, retain this evidence with part number 942170108 and the complete ordering code.

A commissioning sequence that leaves a usable record

Commission Hirschmann BRS30-0804OOOO-STCY99HHSEAXX.X.XX in a sequence that can be audited and repeated. Begin with the delivered label, part number and physical condition, then verify the DC supply arrangement and cabinet installation. Establish the authorized management path before applying VLAN, redundancy or access-control settings.

• Label RJ45 and optical destinations according to the approved port schedule.
• Confirm negotiated rate and duplex on copper ports; verify fitted SFP references separately.
• Test the selected redundancy behavior with the participating network devices.
• Save the accepted configuration and record the software information used at handover.

Retain the acceptance record with the full code rather than a shortened family label. That gives a future replacement team the hardware identity, topology, settings and observed normal condition needed to restore service deliberately. Information to include in a useful quotation request

Send the exact keyword Hirschmann BRS30-0804OOOO-STCY99HHSEAXX.X.XX, catalog Type BRS30-8TX/4SFP-2A, part number 942170108, quantity and delivery destination. Include the required SFP module references, quantities and far-end connection details. State any mandatory management, security, timing or redundancy functions and identify required accessories separately.

Ask the supplier to identify the offered code and scope explicitly. For replacement work, attach a readable nameplate image and the key installed-system details. This creates a quotation that can be compared against the engineering requirement without reducing the request to a generic port count. For the BRS30-8TX/4SFP-2A inquiry review, retain this evidence with part number 942170108 and the complete ordering code.
