Review the standard-temperature BRS20-4TX-HL and its full reference Hirschmann BRS20-04009999-STCX99HHSESXX.X.XX

The Hirschmann BRS20-4TX-HL is a compact managed switch with four 10/100BASE-TX RJ45 ports. Hirschmann BRS20-04009999-STCX99HHSESXX.X.XX identifies the standard-temperature configuration, rated for 0 to +60 °C operation in a PC-ABS housing. The manufacturer record lists ISA12.12.01 under hazardous locations. This product should be specified by its complete code and documented requirements, including the operating range, rather than selected from the short HL designation or the number of available ports alone.

Distinguish HL identification from EEC temperature selection

This configuration is specified for 0 to +60 °C. An HL suffix should not be interpreted as an extended-temperature rating. Compare the actual environment at the mounting location with that range, including local heating from adjacent components. If the project requires a different temperature capability, identify the corresponding full configuration before ordering. Keeping the temperature value beside the complete Product code helps procurement avoid substituting a superficially similar four-port unit with different environmental characteristics.

Review the documented approval requirement

The catalog entry for hazardous locations is ISA12.12.01. Request the current product certificate and installation instructions where the project needs that documentation, and match the offered device to the stated requirements. The catalog reference is useful for product identification, but installation conditions should be established from the applicable documentation. Keep the device label and part number with the project record. This makes the approval review traceable to the exact configuration instead of a general BOBCAT family description.

Technical specifications

Arrange a compact copper network deliberately

Count all four connections, including the port used to reach another network device. Document each destination and select management, traffic and redundancy settings according to the actual topology. The interfaces are Fast Ethernet RJ45 connections; an optical path is not part of this four-copper-port configuration. Label the cables and retain a port schedule so that later service work can begin with the intended arrangement. A saved configuration then links the physical installation to the settings required for normal operation.

Access and diagnostics for the installed configuration

Management options include HTTPS, SSHv2, SNMP v1/v2/v3 and LLDP. Copper cable testing, link monitoring, Syslog and traffic mirroring can support fault investigation when the port schedule and normal operating state are recorded. Establish the management address and authorized access method during commissioning. The documented redundancy options include HIPER-Ring, MRP and RSTP; confirm the selected method with the surrounding network rather than relying on physical cabling alone. Save the accepted configuration and note the software information for future replacement or maintenance work.

Mechanical and supply details for the quotation

The unit is listed at 57 × 138 × 115 mm and 380 g, with 5 W consumption and IP30 enclosure protection. Allow space for cabling and service access in addition to the housing. Verify the DC supply as part of the panel assessment. Send Hirschmann BRS20-04009999-STCX99HHSESXX.X.XX, part number 942170023, quantity and requested accessories with the inquiry. If a specific document package is required, list it explicitly so that the offered supply can be reviewed against the purchasing requirement.

A final check for replacement planning

Compare the offered code with the installed label and confirm the temperature requirement before releasing a replacement order. Retain the project documentation, accepted software information and saved network settings together. After installation, verify the links and required communication with the actual equipment. Use Hirschmann BRS20-04009999-STCX99HHSESXX.X.XX as the common reference across these records so that the HL variant is not confused with a different four-port configuration.

Plan the local administration procedure

The configuration tools include USB-C management support, XML-based files, automatic configuration undo and remote backup when saving. Define the method used at the site and retain the accepted file with the full HL model reference. For a replacement, compare the required network settings and the supplied software before restoring the configuration, then verify actual communication. A documented process helps distinguish the standard-temperature HL unit from another compact switch with similar connectors. Include the necessary service cable or adapter in the accessory schedule if the procedure requires one. Keep a dated record of accepted configuration changes.
