Choose four-port management across a wider temperature range with Hirschmann BRS20-04009999-TTCY99HHSESXX.X.XX

The BRS20-4TX-EEC combines four 10/100BASE-TX RJ45 ports with a specified operating range of −40 to +70 °C. Hirschmann BRS20-04009999-TTCY99HHSESXX.X.XX is the complete code for this compact PC-ABS configuration. With 5 W listed consumption and a 57 mm enclosure width, it can be evaluated for a small DIN rail installation where both space and temperature requirements matter. The EEC designation addresses the operating range; installation protection, cabling and the required network configuration still need their own review.

A small network can still face demanding temperatures

Assess the temperature at the mounted switch during normal operation and starting conditions. The surrounding cabinet may experience local heating from other components or low temperatures before the equipment is energized. Compare those conditions with the complete panel assembly, rather than checking only the switch rating. The PC-ABS enclosure has IP30 protection, so the installation must supply suitable environmental protection. A wider temperature range should not be taken as permission to expose the device directly to weather.

Technical specifications

Reserve the network connection within the four-port total

The four RJ45 interfaces serve both local equipment and any required network interconnection. List the destination of every cable before deciding that the available capacity is sufficient. A redundant topology may require additional connections that also consume ports. Keep those roles visible on the drawing and document any reserved spare capacity. This is especially useful when a compact panel is expected to gain an extra Ethernet device later in its service life.

A service path for a small EEC installation

HTTPS, SSHv2, SNMP v1/v2/v3 and LLDP are included in the management list. Copper cable testing, link-speed and duplex monitoring, Syslog and mirroring provide ways to investigate a communication issue beyond the front-panel indication. Decide which tools are part of the maintenance procedure and document how authorized personnel reach the device. HIPER-Ring, MRP and RSTP are listed redundancy functions; select the appropriate arrangement only after accounting for the ports and peer devices needed by the complete network topology.

Plan power, access and mechanical space together

The enclosure dimensions are 57 × 138 × 115 mm and the published weight is 380 g. Provide room for connector access and cable routing as well as the device itself. Add the 5 W consumption to the panel load schedule and verify the specified DC supply. A service technician should be able to identify the device, inspect the connections and follow the documented management procedure without having to infer the port assignments from the live installation.

Verify the finished four-port installation

Check that the cable destinations match the drawing and that each link negotiates as intended. Confirm authorized management access, application communication and the selected redundancy behavior where applicable. Retain the configuration only after these checks are complete. Keeping the result alongside Hirschmann BRS20-04009999-TTCY99HHSESXX.X.XX gives the service team a practical reference for the EEC device and reduces the ambiguity of a future request for a replacement compact switch.

Keep the EEC code with the configuration backup

Use Hirschmann BRS20-04009999-TTCY99HHSESXX.X.XX and part number 942170011 in the inquiry and equipment record. For a replacement, compare the full installed label with the proposed unit and retain the required management, VLAN and redundancy settings. Test communication and normal link status after commissioning, then preserve the approved configuration. Include accessories and quantity as separate order details. This gives purchasing and maintenance teams a clear reference for the four-port EEC version rather than a generic compact switch.

Retain a local route to the saved configuration

The manufacturer identifies USB-C for local management and replacement work. XML-based configuration files, automatic configuration undo and remote backup when saving appear in the configuration list. A small EEC network still benefits from a defined restoration procedure, especially when its settings differ from those of nearby equipment. Keep the accepted configuration with the installed label and document the service tools needed to use it. Update that record after approved changes rather than allowing the backup to become detached from the actual four-port installation. Keep a dated record of accepted configuration changes.
